It’s a very exciting the moment the one when you get a message from a client asking to do something new and different. When someone like this comes along, oozing creativity and inspiration, you just have to catch that wave and ride it all the way through… A really satisfying experience.
Sandra wanted a black and white patchwork cowhide rug in crossed stripes for her living room. The inspiration came from one of Jonathan Adler‘s rugs, but the material would make all the difference.
We started sketching the rug, deciding between 4 or 6 inch wide stripes, until finally a couple of handmade samples gave us the answer: we would go with the 6” wide stripes, for it not to look too confusing visually.
Once all the sizes, measurements and basics were decided, we selected the hides for them to be all true black and off-white.
The final result was an amazing, totally custom patchwork cowhide rug in black and white.
The rug provides texture and the pattern is interesting enough as not to get boring over the years. But at the same time, it’s sober enough and not visually dense or heavy. It lights up the whole room, even with the black cowhide, as white hair is very reflective.
The mirror wall gives the room a lot of light and extendes the room to almost twice its size.
We received a great idea, took it in and studied all the possibilities. Together with amazing craftmanship from our leather artisans at the factory and a whole lot of patience, we achieved the exact result our client was looking for. And we couldn’t be any happier with it! 🙂
