We recently launched our newest design, The Blue Diamond Patchwork Cowhide Rug. To achieve this look, we used a mix of special dyed blue, light blue hues and natural gray hides in our classic Diamond pattern.
When our awesome client Jennifer contacted us about changing the color scheme of our Diamond pattern we went into a craze. I immediately started sketching it and came up with a studio rendering to see how the final would look like. Little did we know, Jennifer had the greatest idea. Ever!
This Blue, Light Blue and Gray Patchwork Leather Area Rug is the definition of coolness. It’s elegant, timeless, but it still has a kick, an edge and yes, it’s fun.
We started by selecting the right tone of grays to go with the blue hues. We didn’t want it to be a very light gray. Actually, the first idea was to do it in white, but that didn’t turn out as we thought. The look was way too flashy and we were going for some kind of cheeky elegance, if you can call it that way!
So, back to the selection, we went with light grays and found a nice balance. The darker grays would make the blues look too sad, the lighter grays made the blues look too strident. We found the right ones and started cutting and cutting those little stripes.
The assembly of the Diamond pattern has its little tricks and secrets, but when you work with such talented leather artisans as we do, it’s a real pleasure to see it all coming together.
The result: a bold, fancy and daring look in the softest hair-on-hide. A material so noble and rustic that it will last forever, a sense so delicate and elegant that it will be remembered.
