Introducing: The Wonderful Houndstooth Patchwork Cowhide Rug

We couldn’t be more thrilled about this one! We were wanting to do it for some time now, and it finally came true. The Fantastic Houndstooth Patchwork Cowhide Rug No. 300, this time, in cream and beige tones.

A dream come true. And it’s dreamy. Absolutely dreamy!

The color selection was made by one fab client and we couldn’t agree more with her choice! Such a soft, delicate and warm palette to go with the sharp, abstract shapes of the Houndstooth pattern.

In 2009, the late Alexander McQueen used an oversized version of the Houndstooth for his fantastic collection, entitled “Horn of Plenty“, which was -of course- a totally crazy-awesome idea.

We also took an oversized version of the classic Scottish pattern, also known as Pied-de-Poule (“chicken feet” in French!) changing the classic black & white palette for the most beautiful, soft cream and medium beige tones of the highest quality hides to achieve this fantastic look.

Of course, it can be customized in any color combination, or even, I dare say, in a monochromatic or single tone for a calm and textured final look.

Texture is the ultimate luxury. This San Francisco living space proves that a neutral palette is anything but boring when you play with materials. The classic houndstooth pattern scales up perfectly here to add a graphic modern edge without overwhelming the space.

It took us some time to get there, planning together with the client whether each patch should be larger, smaller, the selected tones, the fitting of each patch, the cutting molds and the testing involved… Truth is, I love that part of the process. When you fail a bit here and there, but raise up, keep going and find a solution. That exciting feeling that keeps you going and leads to success is the bomb.

And I think the result is exactly that: a total, utter success! I’m so happy with this rug, I want everyone to see this leather area rug and hope they enjoy it as much as we do 🙂
